Loss can be a catalyst for spiritual change: something new and wonderful can emerge from the empty space. This series of mixed-media pieces explores inner transformation with materiality and, in doing so, plays in the space between 2D and 3D art. These pure-process pieces are formed from commonplace, discarded materials, such as plastic blinds, burlap sacks, old sweaters, and phone book listings. Changing, re-forming, and finally emerging, these pieces speak to the butterflies within us.
