This series of paintings and mixed-media pieces explores relationships between individuality and collectivism, the organic and the artificial, and faith and reason. Each piece is a different imagined dialogue—with a favorite artist, a departed loved one, or a person from an ancient culture. A painting begins with a question, but the answer may lie in another painting, which in turn engenders a new question. The dialogue from word to image, and image to word, informs the materials, the process of making, and the evolution of these pieces.
