Flora and Philosophy

During the 2020 coronavirus outbreak, I took morning walks to observe the spring flowers. Each flower seemed to have a different way of responding to its environment and the light that touched it. I found that the natural world was moving by its own rhythms, unaffected by human concerns. The paintings that resulted were memories of the photos I had taken of them. Each was painted on a page torn from a travel book, given to me by a friend.
